He, That Dares Not Grasp The Thorn, Should Never Crave The Rose.

There is a post I’ve written a while ago on how people filled with passion live their life. It was dedicated to people of extremes, who don’t half way anything, ever. These very people are often called “too intense”, “too much to handle”, “too this or too that.” They’re often led to believe there is something wrong with them and they need to water themselves down.

As a female, I have experienced that mostly with guys (although, my female friends at that time made sure to point it out as well). Having people repeatedly tell you stuff like that makes you question and doubt yourself to the point of wondering if you should just fake it till you make it. You end up believing you’re a freak and God forbid, nobody wants to hang out with a freak.

In such situations, your reptilian brain goes into panic mode, because that’s what it is designed for. At the very beginning of mankind, people needed to stick with the tribe in order to survive. Being left on your own basically meant your chances of dying have increased by 99%, so, let’s say back then it made perfect sense to adjust your behavior to whatever was tolerated. But hey, it’s 2020! Fitting in is kinda old school and unnecessary (from a survival point of view)…
